Don't give up

"Quit! Give up, you're beaten!" they shout at me and plead.
"There's just too much against you now, this time you can't succeed."
And as I started to hang my head in front of failure's face.
My downward fall is broken by the memory of a race.

And hope refills my weakened will, as I recall that scene being.
A children's race. Young boys, young men, I remember well.
Excitement, sure, but also fear; it wasn't hard to tell.

They all lined up so full of hope. Each thought to win that race.
Or tie for first, or if not that, at least take second place.
And fathers watched from off the side, each cheering for his son.
And each boy hoped to show his dad, that he would be the one.

(The whistle blow)
To win, to be the hero there, was each young boy's desire.
And one boy in particular, his dad was in the crowd,
Was running near the lead and thought, My dad will be so proud.

But as he sped down the field across a shallow dip,
The little boy who thought to win, lost his step and slipped,
Trying hard to catch himself, his hands flew out to brace,
And 'mid the laughter of the crowd, he fell flat on his face.

So, down he fell and with him hope. He couldn't win it now.
Embarrassed, sad, he only wished to disappear somehow.
But, as he fell his dad stood up and showed his anxious face.
Which to the boy so clearly said, Get up and win the race!

He quickly rose, no damage done, behind a bit that's all,
And ran with all his mind and might to make up for his fall,
So anxious to restore himself, to catch up and to win.
His mind went faster than his legs. He slipped and fell again.

He wished that he had quit before with only one disgrace.
I'm hopeless as a runner now, I shouldn't try to race.
But through the laughing crowed he searched and found his father's face --
That steady look that said again Get up and win the race!

So up he jumped to try again, ten yards behind the last,
If I'm to gain those yards, he thought, I've got to run real fast.
Expanding everything he had, he regained eight or ten,
But trying so hard to catch the lead, he slipped and fell again.

Defeat! He lay there silently, a tear dropped from his eye.
There's no sense running anymore, three strikes, I'm out, why try?
The will to rise had disappeared, all hope had fled away,
So far behind, so error prone, closer all the way.

I've lost, so what's the use? he thought. I'll live with my disgrace.
Get up, an echo sounded low, get up and take your place.
You weren't meant for failure here; you haven't lost at all.
For winning is no more than this; to rise each time you fall.

So up he rose to win once more, deciding to commit,
He resolved that win or lose, at least he wouldn't quit.
So far behind the others now, the most he'd ever been,
Still he gave it all he had and ran as though to win.
Three times he'd fallen stumbling, three times he rose again.

They cheered the winning runner as he crossed the line, first place,
Head high and proud and happy: no falling, no disgrace.
But when the fallen youngster crossed the finishing line, last place,
The crowed gave him the greater cheer for finishing the race.

And even though he came in last, with head bowed low, not proud,
You would have thought he'd won the race, to listen to the crowd.
And to his dad he sadly said, "I didn't do so well."
"To me you won," his father said, "you rose each time you fell."

And now when times seem dark and hard and difficult to face.
The memory of that little boy helps me to run my race.
For all of life is like that race, with ups and downs and all,
And all you have to do to win is rise each time you fall.

"Quit! Give up, you're beaten!" they still shout in my face,
But another voice within me says, Get up and win the race!

How many times I have fell to the depths of disappointment?
How hard it is to stand up again?

Trying to go to where my vision leads;

Well, it has been quite some time since i last posted, not allow me to entertain myself again, or my faithful readers, if you exist that is.

In general, a Malaysian will live an average of 70 years, you can confirm this from the ministry of health Malaysia.

Now, many do notice that they sleep for 8 hours a day, but how about this:
assuming that you lived for 70 years and died,
you would have slept 23.33 years,
be in school, college, or working place for another 23.33 years,
(if you take breakfast,lunch and dinner everyday for 10 minutes each)
1.5 years eating.
so, what you have left is actually less than a third of your 70 year live.
Not to mention the time you took in the restroom and bath room...

hehehe, a little unnoticed fact for you.

The most rewarding job

I received an email a few days ago that mentioned the life of parents.
How they nurtured us when we were a toddler;How they care for us when we were sick;How they console us when we were down;How they stand up for us;How they helped us in every single way that they can...

Now,how about us? Have we stayed up late just to take care of our parents when they are sick? have we been ignoring them whenever they speak up? have we been away from home whole day just to meet up with friends? have we actually think how they would've felt?

Even tough the children tend to ignore the parents and spare little love compared to the love of parents, parents is actually a pretty rewarding job. Looking at the children growing day by day to be a fine gentleman or a lady. How joyful the heart of a parent would be.Looking at the results of their own upbringing, how rewarding it is.

Ask any young parents, after they have worked their sweat out in the day, what do they feel when their young little child came and sing an out of tune "twinkle twinkle little star"... indeed, parenting is not an easy task, but rewarding in many ways...

A famous statement that is still remembered today. Romeo and Juliet, a masterpiece of William Shakespear. I am pretty sure that you have come across this title, but have you ever thought of giving it some time and actually read through the story? The general idea of the story is pretty well known but the details, is indeed very intriguing.

The love of a princess and a prince whose parents were enemies. Can their love prevails? or did they live a life of pain and suffer? Spend some time and read through the play while playing some sentimental songs on your PC, feel the emotions that were being felt by the characters, put yourself in their shoes and think. A song that I recommend would be "you raised me up" by Josh Gorban. It is a very suitable song to be heard while reading this tragic love story.

A Story for Christmas

Long time ago, there are 3 candles and a young boy.
The first candle,LOVE, said:"This world is engulfed by hatred. Driven by hatred, people start hurting others, ignoring those who are in need...LOVE is forgotten..." and the flame of the first candle,LOVE, died.

The second candle, PEACE, said:"This world is driven by greed. Because of greed, war keeps arising and people dying. Did they not know the value of peace? Did they forget the peaceful life? Did they stop dreaming of having a peaceful life?" and the flame of PEACE died.

After some time waiting for the third and the last candle, the boy asked:"Aren't you going to say anything about the world? This world is driven by hatred and greed, people dying yet noone cares..." and the third candle said:"I am HOPE, as long as I am here, love and peace will never cease to exist.". astute, what a strange name for a blog. What is the meaning anyway? Does this word even exist?

astute |əˈstut| - very clever and quick at seeing what to do in a particular situation, especially how to get an advantage.

Why this word? I wanted to use insight,but it was taken , so, the next thing that came up my mind is this.

I have came back to the world of blogs. It has been awhile since I last blogged, I wonder if I can really keep this up but anyway...here goes my first post~
